Fall 2014 Second Meeting (9/4/2014, 7:30pm)
- Our next meeting will cover the basic approaches to modern aquarium husbandry for both salt and freshwater aquariums. Following a brief presentation on the essentials of nitrogen cycling, feeding, and necessary regular maintenance in aquarium systems, there will be an open discussion for everyone to ask questions and seek answers together!
- Also, the Aquarium Rental Program will officially begin during the meeting. After filling out the appropriate paperwork and a $10 fee, members will be able to take home one of several 10-gallon aquariums the club currently owns, along with any necessary filters and heaters. If you plan on renting an aquarium through UMAC, please come prepared with questions to help you learn about how to establish a beautiful living ecosystem in your dorm!
This is the online site for the University of Miami Aquarium Club (UMAC), an on campus student organization that's all about marine life! We are responsible for the upkeep of the tanks on UM's campus, and meet regularly to discuss the aquarium hobby and the work involved with keeping aquaria. The club also strives to educate members on new topics within the hobby, and to provide knowledge and assistance to members with personal tanks.
During the upcoming Fall 2014 Semester we will be meeting on Thursday nights at 7:30pm in Cox 184 on the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. Feel free to contact us to learn more about the club's activities!
Remember to check out our Aquarium Blog, new posts are always popping up, and who knows, you might just learn something!
